The PURELL advanced skin nourishing instant hand sanitizer foam, refill for FMX-12 dispenser, is an antimicrobial nonaerosol foam that contains 70% ethyl alcohol to help reduce the number of germs on hands, and six moisturizers to help keep skin hydrated. This sealed refill bottle for FMX-12 dispensers (sold separately) includes a fresh dispensing valve to help reduce potential germ exposure and a clear window to show fill level. The hand sanitizer meets the EcoLogo hand sanitizer standard CCD-170 for its use of bio-based raw materials, environmentally safer ingredients and packaging, and for enhanced recyclability compared to other products in its category. The EcoLogo CCD-170 standard also uses European Committee for Standardization (CEN) standards EN 1500 and EN 13727 to verify product effectiveness. This hand sanitizer meets U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) healthcare personnel hand-washing requirements. It contains no fragrance or dye, and qualifies as a USDA BioPreferred product for federal procurement preference. The hand sanitizer is compatible with latex, nitrile, and vinyl gloves to reduce the risk of glove degradation, and CHG (chlorhexidine gluconate) anti-pathogen to reduce the risk of deactivating interference when using both products. Foam stays on hands during use better than gel.
Hand sanitizers (also called hand antiseptics) are liquids, gels, or foams that help reduce the number of germs on hands when a small amount is rubbed into the skin; no rinsing with water or drying with towels is needed. In situations when soap and water are not available, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends use of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can quickly reduce the number of germs on hands, but do not eliminate every kind of pathogenic microorganism. Hand sanitizers are not as effective when hands are visibly dirty. They are available in a range of sizes, from small bottles for personal use to large mounted dispensers for public or institutional use. They are also available as wipes: small, disposable paper or nonwoven towels soaked in a hand sanitizer liquid. Hand sanitizers are typically part of hand hygiene programs at health care and food processing facilities, where pathogenic microorganisms are common.
